The Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) was established through Provincial Government Act N0 7 of 1981 which was assented to by the first Governor General of Solomon Islands, Sir Baddeley Devesi on 22nd January 1982 and published in the Gazette in the 80s (date TBC) thus legitimize establishment of the MPGIS.
